I’m reflecting on my November, and honestly, it was fairly uneventful. But that's the way I like my months. No news is good news. Right?
I did finish my first draft of She’s Going to Kill You. That goes on my list of November 2023 accomplishments, but those details are for another Whispers entry. I believe the highlight of the month was Thanksgiving week. I had nine days off with my wonderful wife, and we spent a great deal of that time together with friends and family. That's peak life, in my opinion.
A large part of my month went towards reading the Claymore manga. It’s twenty-seven books long. I’d say each one took me about half an hour to read. If you’ve never heard of Claymore, you’re missing out. I came across the anime about ten years ago and I’ve been a fan ever since.
The series is set on a medieval island where Yoma, demons that can take human form, torment humanity. A group known only as “The Organization” creates half-human, half-Yoma female warriors to combat the Yoma. These warriors are called Claymores. Most people fear Claymores almost as much as they fear Yoma, because of their unnatural abilities and (often) their appearance. The story primarily follows a Claymore named Clare, and through her trials, you learn that there are many secrets that are kept from both the general population and Claymores. For instance, if a Claymore pushes herself too hard, she could become awakened, which would make her just like the Yoma she hunts.
I’d certainly rate Claymore highly, both the animated series and the manga. Other than that I’m not really sure where my November went. If you find my missing parts of my November, let me know. K. Thanks!
CURRENTLY LISTENING:
Marbule (Home World) from the Chrono Cross OST. I didn't mention it as part of my November life, but I did put a significant amount of time into my second run of Chrono Cross during November, finishing it up December 1st. My first run was about twenty three years ago.
If you never played Chrono Cross, it's a great game. A little too convoluted in story, but still a great game. Far greater than the game, though, is the music. You should absolutely give the OST a listen. It's on Spotify. I'll leave you with a Chrono Cross quote:
"What was the start of all this? When did the cogs of fate begin to turn? Perhaps it is impossible to grasp the answer now, from deep within the flow of time... But, for a certainty, back then, we loved so many, yet hated so much. We hurt others and were hurt ourselves. Yet even then, we ran like the wind, whilst our laughter echoed, under Cerulean skies..."
