We’re only a few weeks away from the release of The Veiled Maze Anniversary Edition. In this entry, we’re going to talk about the past, present, and future of this amazing novella.
The Past:
The Veiled Maze was a prequel freebie for The Visions of Bezek. You can still download the digital standard edition on the Whispers mailing list for free, but the Anniversary Edition includes extra content. We’ll delve into those details further down.
The Veiled Maze is a 100 page novella that takes the reader on a journey into the town of Bezek, following the retired couple, Ruth and Roland. They’ve come to Bezek seeking medical treatment, but they soon find themselves lost. I was happy to flex some of my visually creative muscles in developing a cover that hides the title in a maze, along with similar chapter titles, but that was the extent of the art in the standard edition.
I received a great deal of responses from the novella, requesting a physical copy. My answer remains that this is a free novella for the reading pleasure of those who are on the Whispers mailing list.
The Present:
I’ve put together the Anniversary Edition of The Veiled Maze to accommodate those who’d like to have a physical copy. There’s also a digital version of the Anniversary Edition. They both carry low price tags because I want it to be costs friendly to anyone who wants to upgrade from the free version.
So why’s it called the Anniversary Edition, you ask? That answer’s easy. This April The Veiled Maze will be one year old. This edition celebrates that anniversary with bonus and extra content included in the Anniversary Edition, both in the digital and physical versions. Everything from the original freebie is included, except the icon for TVM has been updated. This version also includes additional art, a newspaper clipping providing some post-ending story details, behind-the-scenes content, maze activities, and more.
The Anniversary Edition will be available on Amazon on April 19, 2024. It will also be available from other retailers on or shortly after that date. Unfortunately, I don’t have a list of those retailers yet, but I’m working on it.
The Future:
Currently, I’m working on my Gonna Kill You Trilogy, which is wrapping up with the second entry. While these don’t connect to Ruth and Roland, the protagonist from The Veiled Maze, it is connected to Bezek. The third book will release in 2025, and then I’ll have to figure out what comes next.
There are many more stories to tell about Bezek and there may even be more stories to tell that are directly related to The Veiled Maze. I don’t want to spoil too much, but I don’t think this is the last time you’ll see Ruth and Roland.
