#0037 Author Life: The Lengthy List

Writer: AlexanderAlexander
the to-read shelf

What is an author without their massive backlog of books to read? I believe there are currently thirty-eight books on my to-read bookshelf. It's a little difficult to find time to read when you spend a good deal of your free time writing.

It makes me sad that some of these have remained unread for over a year, but that's life. There's more to do than time to do it. Even so, there are many of these that I'm still very excited about. That's a lie. I'm excited about all of them, but I'll note a few highlights in the to-read collection.

Buried Schemes

Here's a copy of Buried Schemes by David C. Horne. I met this author on TikTok when I was getting started with my account and I wanted to show my support for him as a fellow indie author by purchasing a copy of his debut novel. Please don't tell him I haven't read it yet. Ha.

You can get a copy on Amazon. Here's the blub: How far would you go to walk away with millions of dollars in buried treasure? That’s the question Justin Hughes and his wife Ashley must answer when they discover a long-lost Viking hoard while vacationing with their two best friends on an island in Wales. Set against a vivid backdrop of rural Wales, ‘Buried Schemes’ takes you on a thrilling journey as four American tourists are faced with grave decisions which may alter their lives forever. Torn between returning home to their mundane workaday lives and somehow keeping the treasure for themselves, lines are crossed and loyalties are tested. Filled with evocative imagery of long-lost riches, sumptuous meals, crumbling ruins, and the British Isles, this novel fills the senses as the characters find themselves immersed in an adventure of grand proportions.

Clive Barker Books

Next on my list of highlights are some Clive Barker works. The Hellbound Heart and some Hellraiser comics.

I don't think there's much of a description needed here. Cliver Barker is a famous author known for writing horror tales.

Out of the Shadows

Here's my first book festival purchase: Out of the Shadows by Dana Fraedrich. She had an exceptional booth with other merchandise she made. She's another indie author, but she's on another level. Out of the Shadows currently has over 200 reviews on Amazon with a 4.3 star rating. I hope I can hit that many reviews one day.

Here's the blurb: Lenore, a thief, is on the run from the law, from the brutal Enforcers. Just when she thinks she's found safety by assuming a new identity with a wealthy but eccentric family, she discovers they've got secrets of their own. Big ones. As does everyone in this series. And, of course, someone who knows her real identity is chasing after her. Will Lenore find the courage to forge her own path, or will she put her trust in the wrong people and bring this world of lies she's built crashing down?

There are many more books on my to-read list I can't wait to enjoy, but I fear it'll be a while before I can get to all of them. If you've got any books I should add to my list, let me know. I'd love to hear about them.
